Commercial Bank of Ceylon on list of Top 1000 World Banks

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon (CBC) has been ranked 155th in the world in terms of financial soundness and 950th on Tier-I Capital by The Banker magazine.
The CBC has become the first Sri Lankan bank to be ranked among the top 1000 banks of the world on capital adequacy and soundness, said a press release.
Based on assets, the bank is ranked at 948th out of the 1000 banks. The rankings are compiled from a database of over 5000 banks worldwide.
The CBC also has been awarded the 'Global Quality Award' by MasterCard Worldwide, recognising the bank's excellence in operational achievement.
The CBC was one of the four winners from South Asia, Middle East and Africa sub-region to be recognised as a MasterCard Worldwide Quality Award winner, the release added.
The CBC has started its journey in Bangladesh since November 6, 2003. Over the period it has expanded its branch network to six full fledged AD branches, two booths and two specialised OBU sections in Dhaka (Dhanmondi) and Chittagong (CEPZ).
