Committee needs 1 more month to complete N\\\'ganj probe

The committee investigating the Narayanganj murders on Wednesday said they need one more month to complete their probe. The body constituted on May 7 following an order by the High Court submitted its findings to it today. “We were formed by an order of the High Court. We have given a progress report to it. We have also sought from the High Court another four weeks to complete our probe,” the Law Ministry’s Deputy Secretary Mizanur Rahman Khan, a member of the probe team told reporters. The committee has visited areas on the banks of Shitalakkha at Bandar Upazila in Narayanganj where the seven dead bodies including that of Councillor Nazrul Islam were found floating. They have also spoken to relatives of the victims and held public hearings asking anyone with information to appear before it between May 12 and 15 at the Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner’s office. Six people deposed before the committee on the first day of the hearing, according to bdnews24.com.
