Community clinics remain closed for eight years

RANGPUR, Mar 19: A total of 291 community clinics of the district have remain closed for eight years. The rural people as a result are being deprived of necessary health care services.
The clinics were set up at a cost of more than TK 20 million in 1996 to provide health care services to 1.5 million people of the area.
Of them 45 clinics are in Rangpur Sadar Upazila, 35 in Gangachara Upazila, 30 in Bavarian Upazila, 50 in Purging Upazila, 19 in Kounia, 39 in Pirgachha, 15 in Taraganj and 58 in Mithapukur Upazila.
People of the area have urged the government to take necessary steps in this regard.
