Community radios can use commercial ads: Inu

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Tuesday said the government will allow community radios to use commercial advertisements so that they could be self-reliant financially. Inu said this at the signing of a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) among 14 community radio stations, Information Ministry and Access to Information (A2I) Project of the Prime Minister’s Office. The community radios include Radio Padma, Radio Pallikantha, Radio Nalata, Lok Betar, Radio Sagar Giri, Radio Mahananda, Radio Mukti, Radio Chilmari, Radio Jhinuk, Krishi Radio, Radio Sundarban, Radio Barendra, Radio Bikrampur and Radio Naf. The minister also inaugurated a web portal about community radio at the MoU signing ceremony at the Secretariat, according to a news agency.
