A businessman filed a compensation case against former shipping adviser MA Matin and ex-shipping secretary M Motahar Hossain in a city court Tuesday for the cancellation of a tender that caused a loss of Tk 250 million to him, reports UNB.
Shahadat Hossain Selim, proprietor of Everest Enterprise, filed the com-pensation suit with the First Joint District Judge Court in the morning.
After initial hearing, Judge KM Imrul Quayesh accepted the case and asked the former adviser to the last caretaker government and the former secretary to appear before the court on October 14.
Shahadat in his case statement said that his business enterprise had become the lowest bidder in the tender floated for container handling operation at Chittagong Container Terminal in May 2008 during the previous caretaker government.
"At the last moment, the caretaker government cancelled the tender instead of providing work to his firm. For this he incurred a loss of Tk 250 million," he said.
