The subject of the essay is: "The Possibility of 'Japanese-Style Business Models' for Preserving the Earth".

With the rapid growth in world population and the rise of emerging economies, demand for resources such as minerals, energy, food, and water has increasingly tightened. While this puts new constraints on corporate activities, companies are now required to strike a balance between their business practices and the global environment toward sustainable economic growth. How will Japanese companies adapt themselves and respond to such circumstances? Will they be able to translate them into business opportunities with new technologies and innovative thinking? In order to make sustainable growth a reality, how can management philosophy, know-how, and technical capabilities of Japanese corporations be best applied in developing countries and the rest of the world? JFTC welcomes your positive suggestions on this theme.
