Completing trial process of war criminals stressed

Speakers at a national convention in the city Saturday urged the government to complete the trial process of war criminals soon, reports BSS.
They made the call while addressing the national convention of like-minded democratic and progressive leaders at Mohanagar Nattyamonch in the city.
The leaders belonging to various progressive political parties also called upon the country's pro-liberation forces to unite against the war criminals for making the country's hard-earned independence meaningful.
Presided over by convener of the convention preparatory committee and a progressive politician Pankaj Bhattachariya the meeting was addressed, among others by, JSD President Hasanul Haque Inu MP, Worker's Party President Rashed Khan Menon MP, President of Parbatta Chattagram Janasanghati Samity Santu Larma, Convener of the Forum Against Communalism and Militancy Ajoy Roy, Editor of the Daily Sun Dr Syed Anwar Hossain, writer and columnist Abul Mansur Ahmed, CPB leader Mujahedil Islam Selim, journalist and columnist Ronesh Meitra and member secretary of the convention preparatory committee Mahbub Uddin Chowdhury.
Criticising the BNP for patronising war criminals and rehabilitating them in politics, Pankaj Bhattachariya said that the main opposition is trying to create instability across the country in a bid to bring back misrule in the country.
He demanded ban on religion-based politics and making four fundamentals of the 1972 constitution effective and introducing rationing system for the mass people to reduce gap between the poor and rich.
Earlier, journalist and columnist Ronesh Moitra inaugurated the national convention by releasing balloons and pigeons.
