Computer for police stations
Thursday, 18 September 2008
The police have to spend much time in writing case diaries and investigation reports by hand. The archaise system inherited from the colonial era continues unchanged. Outdated keeping of records of criminals hampers speedy handling of cases when the soaring number of crimes calls for much speedier handling. In many police stations old and weather-beaten files can hardly be read. Computerisation can rescue the situation. A single computer in a police station can make thousands of files redundant. This would release space at the police station for better use. This could also save much of the time of the police station personnel.
Computerisation can tremendously aid in the detection of criminals by comparing pictures preserved in it.
