The condition of a youth, injured on Monday in a clash between police and hartal supporters in Mugda under the city’s Sabujbagh Police Station, has deteriorated overnight. Hospital doctors said one of the legs of Jony may have to be amputated. Md Hanif aka, Jony 26, was injured by bullet and bombs during the BNP-led 20-party alliance's nationwide hartal on Monday afternoon. The 20-party combine called the 6am to 6pm shutdown against the 16th Constitutional Amendment passed last Wednesday. Jony received multiple wounds in the cop-BNP clash during hartal hours Monday afternoon. The clash ensued when some bombs were hurled at police from a procession in front of Madartek Bazar. A chase and counter chase took place between police and hartal supporters during which some more bombs were hurled at police, who opened fire injuring Jony, who had already been hurt in the melee. Jony was rushed to the DMCH in a critical condition, according to a private TV channel.
