Condolences pour in for Moazzem Hossain

Noted personalities and different organisations on Thursday expressed deep condolences on the demise of eminent journalist and editor of the Financial Express (FE) AHM Moazzem Hossain.
The iconic business journalist breathed his last on Wednesday evening at Square Hospital in the city at the age of 73.
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) expressed deep condolence at the death of Mr AHM Moazzem Hossain.
In a message, DCCI president Abul Kasem Khan said the journalist community of the country lost a guardian in the media arena at his sudden demise.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, in a condolence message, prayed for the salvation of the departed soul of Moazzem Hossain.
Principal Secretary and former chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Nojibur Rahman wrote on his Facebook: "Deeply shocked at the sudden death of Moazzem Hossain; my deepest condolences to his bereaved family, friends and colleagues."
He also said, "He will always be missed and remembered by us for his amiable disposition and professionalism."
Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) board of directors Chairman Dr. Abul Hashem and managing director KAM Majedur Rahman said Moazzem Hossain was a researcher and analyst of stock market and he contributed a lot to the country's economy through writing analytical articles on different aspects of the stock exchange.
Former governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Atiur Rahman also mourned the demise of the veteran journalist.
In a condolence message, he conveyed his condolences to the family of the departed soul and all members of the FE.
Mirza Salman Ispahani, Chairman of Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital, on behalf of the Management Team conveys his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
"Mr. A. H. M. Moazzem Hossain will be remembered for his excellent support to the Institute," a statement of Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital said.
Meanwhile, The Editors' Council , the National Press Club, Economic Reporters Forum (ERF), Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB), a faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and Dhaka Newspaper Hawkers Multipurpose Co-operative Society also condoled.
"He was one of the finest journalists of the country who, through his untiring devotion and strict adherence to ethical journalism made enormous contribution to the growth of professional journalism in the country. He was one of the earliest exponents of financial and economic journalism and can be termed as the doyen of economic journalism in the country," the Editors' Council said.
"His crowning glory was co-founding The Financial Express and turning it into the first successful English language economic daily of the country. Due to his untiring zeal and hands-on stewardship of the paper it grew into a very credible and financially viable business daily in the country."
"A gentleman par excellence and modest to a fault, he was a man of few words but of immense knowledge of national and international developments in the world of economics. His insightful editorials and in-depth analysis of economic trends always served as a barometer of future tidings. He will be remembered by the nation and revered by his fellow professionals as an inspiring figure in Bangladeshi journalism," the Editors' Council said.
Robi Axiata Ltd acting managing director and CEO Shihab Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of National Life Insurance Co Ltd Jamal MA Naser, Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited, Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD), Shippers Council of Bangladesh, International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB), Honorary Consul of the Republic of Djibouti in Dhaka Abdul Haque and Gonotantrik Budget Andolon in separate messages also condoled.
