Congo plane crash: Yunus laid to rest

CHITTAGONG, Apr 16 (bdnews24.com): Army corporal (clerk) Mohammad Yunus Mia, one of two soldiers killed in a UN plane crash in Congo, has been buried at his Nayahat family graveyard in Satkania Upazila in state honour. Satkania Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Khaled Hossain told the news agency that Yunus was buried under army supervision after his namaz-e-janaza at Purangarh Sharfuddin High School premises Saturday. His body was earlier flown to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Training Centre in Satkania from Dhaka by a helicopter at 11:30am. Brig Gen Tanim Ahmed Chowdhury of 64 Infantry Division received the corpse, he said. The body was later taken to his mother Umme Habiba by an ambulance, the OC said. Yunus (28), the second of three sons of Rafik Ahmed Saodagar, is survived by his wife and two sons - one three years and another three months old. He joined the army in March 2007 and the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Congo on October 10 last year. At least 32 people, including Yunus and Major KM Ziaul Haque, were killed in the plane crash on April 4.
