Congratulations to Gen. Amin Ahmed Chowdhury

First, hats off to Gen. Amin Ahmed Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, for his services and sacrifice for the Liberation War and independent Bangladesh! Congratulations to all Bangladeshis for the great Victory Day!
I enjoyed Gen. Chowdhury's article in the Financial Express. It is very thoughtful and objectively depicts the events of the tumultuous time in the first 15 years after independence of Bangladesh. The role of the armed forces is very well defined--the military experience, allegiance to rule of military and civil laws, and patriotic spirit of the writer are aptly displayed! I am positive there are many senior officers (active and retired) with similar spirit, views, and patriotism in the armed forces. It is imperative that they express their views openly so the citizenry and military professionals will benefit from understanding, setting aspirations, and practising the proper role and responsibilities of the armed forces.
In the spirit of Victory Day -- the jubilation, unity, patriotic zeal, and commitment to nation building on December 16, 1971 (I can still feel the freshness of breathing in an independent country) -- I wish and pray that all will rekindle and recommit to make Bangladesh a prosperous and successful country!
