Conservancy worker lynched in Pabna

A group of unruly employees of a food factory in Pabna lynched a conservancy worker on suspicion that he stole a bi-cycle of one of the employees on Saturday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Tulsi Kumar Das, 25, a cleaner of Niyom Food Company and son of Shawon Kumar Das of Sweeper Colony area in the town. Locals said at Tulsi was employed as a cleaner of the food factory, situated in Shalgaria area under Pabna municipality. When Tulsi went to his office around 11am, a group of employees confined him to the office for several hours and beat him indiscriminately on suspicions that he stole the bicycle of one of them, leaving him critically injured. Later, locals rescued Tulsi and rushed him to Pabna General Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 4:50pm. As the news spread around, residents of the Sweeper Colony gathered in front of the houses of food factory owner Farhad Hossain and his brother Abdul Hannan, former finance affairs secretary of the district unit of Awami League, protesting the murder. They allegedly vandalised both the houses. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Meanwhile, the cleaners of the district town announced an indefinite work abstention from Sunday, according to a news agency.
