Conspiracy on to destroy garment industry: Delwar

Sunday, 1 November 2009

BNP secretary-general Khandaker Delwar Hossain alleged a "conspiracy in connivance with the government" is going on to destroy the country's garment industry to give advantage to "a foreign country", reports UNB.
He came up with the complaint as the main opposition party expressed deep concern over Saturday's violent clash and reported casualties in a garment factory in Tongi area.
"The present government has complicity in the conspiracy as they do not want any industries and factories to exist in the country," he said at a party rally.
Instead, he quipped, the government party "made Jatiya Sangsad dysfunctional and turned it into a factory of manufacturing abuses against opposition leaders and workers".
He noted that parliament is a place for speaking for people's welfare, but "indiscriminate character assassination of the opposition" is taking place there.
The rally was held in front of the party's central office to demand withdrawal of 'false' cases against BNP leader and ex-PM Khaleda Zia's elder son Tarique Rahman. Delwar presided.
