Constn of 3 flyovers in Ctg to start soon

CHITTAGONG, Apr 22 (BSS): Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr Afsarul Ameen said construction work of flyovers at city's Nasirabad, Muradpur and GEC Crossing will start soon. Processes have been completed to begin construction and the work will be inaugurated at a time within June, he added. "The development work spending about TK 16 billion (1600 crore) have been completed in the port city in the last two years and the amount spent is higher than the expenditures earmarked for the city development by any other government in the past", the minister said while formally inaugurating the expansion work of Muradpur- Chawkbazar Road as the chief guest at Muradpur intersection today. The construction work of the 1.4 km road will cost Tk 565.5 million and would be completed by June 2013. Dr Ameen said Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina's commitment and sincerity for the development of economically potential Chittagong region have been reflected in starting up huge development work in the port city. The minister said development of Chittagong means development of the rest of the country and so "balanced development is not possible ignoring the development need of the city". He called upon the CDA authority to formulate long-term but environmentally sound urban development schemes to ensure balanced development of the city. CDA chairman Abdus Salam presided and CCC panel Mayor Ahmed Hossain was present at the function.
