Construct a flyover between Hatirjheel and Bansree link road

Sunday, 26 May 2024

A new era began with the launch of the Hatirjheel one-way circular road in Dhaka city. This development has significantly reduced commuting time and hassle in the surrounding area. The primary beneficiaries of this road are students, job holders, business people, and the general public in this vicinity.
To further improve traffic flow, it would be highly effective to construct a flyover connecting Hatirjheel with Bansree Link Road. Currently, vehicles travelling from Hatirjheel to Bansree have to navigate the Badda U-loop, which is time-consuming and often results in severe traffic congestion. Bansree and the adjacent Staff Quarter are among the most densely populated areas in Dhaka. Constructing a flyover between Hatirjheel and Bansree Link Road would greatly reduce commuting time.
It is important to note that the road from Rampura Bridge to Staff Quarter is currently the busiest in Dhaka, handling traffic from Narayanganj and Narsingdi. Bansree, and particularly Amulia, are emerging as promising areas for future development.
Therefore, considering future traffic demands, it is advisable for the authorities to construct a flyover between Hatirjheel (Merul Badda) and Bansree Link Road. This would also alleviate pressure on Rampura to Pragati Sharani Road, especially before and after the Badda highway.
