Construction of 26 roads going on in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Oct 16 (BSS)- The construction and maintenance works of 26 roads at different wards in Gaibandha Pourashava of the district are going on in full swing to improve the road communication. The works are being implemented by the Pourashava at a cost of Taka 4.26 crore under Urban Governance Infrastructure Improvement Project-2, funded by ADB, KFW and GIZ, official sources said. About 20 percent works have already been completed and the rest works will be finished by December next, said Mehedul Islam, assistant engineer of the Pourashava. Besides, the construction works of eight drains will start in the pourashava very soon at the cost of Taka two crore under the same project, he said. Marking the day, Shushashaner Jonno Procharavijan (Campaign for Good Governance), district committee, organized a discussion meeting at Public Library and Club auditorium. Vice Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad M.Pearul Islam addressed the function as the chief guest while Zillur Rahman Khandokar, president of Campaign for Good Governance (CGG), district committee, was in the chair.
