Contempt charge lodged against 6 secretaries

A contempt of court charge was lodged with the High Court against six secretaries for not implementing court directives to use Bengali in all spheres of life.
Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akanda filed the charge Sunday which is likely to come up for hearing at the bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain Monday.
The bureaucrats are-- the Cabinet Secretary, the Law Secretary, the Home Affairs Secretary, the Cultural Affairs Secretary, the Education Secretary and the Information Secretary.
On February 17, the High Court issued an order to use Bengali in signboards, nameplates and number plates of vehicles as well as electronic media advertisements, according to a news agency.
