Continental Ins okays 7pc stock, 5pc cash dividends

Continental Insurance Limited has approved seven per cent stock and five per cent cash dividends for the year that ended December 31, 2010. The approval came at the 11th annual general meeting (AGM) of the company in the city Monday. Md Musa Meah, chairman of the company, presided over the AGM. The directors' report, the audited accounts and the balance sheet of the company for the year ended December 31, 2010 were also placed at the meeting. The shareholders adopted the reports unanimously. Mr Musa Meah said the gross premium income of the company increased to Tk 350 million in 2010, from Tk 290 million in 2009, showing a 20.74 per cent growth. He also informed the shareholders that necessary measures have been taken to diversify the company's activities and expand business in future. The company settled gross claim of Tk 562 million during the year 2010. Vice chairman Tehsin Rashid, directors of the company AKM Azizur Rahman, SM Abu Mohsin, Mohammed Iqbal, Md Jahangir Hussain, Mohammed A Hafiz, Ishnad Iqbal, Imtiaz Bin-Musa, Abrar Rahman Khan, Shamsuddoha Chowdhury, managing director Md Hasmat Ali, company secretary Mirza Md Alauddin and the shareholders of the company were also present at the meeting.
