Continental Insurance declares 7.5pc dividend

Continental Insurance Limited (CIL) has declared 7.5 per cent dividend for its shareholders.
The dividend was approved in CIL's 7th annual general meeting (AGM) held in the city recently. The company's Chairman Md Musa Meah presided over the meeting. CIL Managing Director Md Hashmat Ali and Company Secretary M Qamrul Munir along with statutory auditor Golam Kibria were also present on the occasion.
The directors' report, the audited accounts and the balancesheet of the company for the year that ended on December 31, 2006 were placed in the meeting, and were unanimously adopted by the shareholders.
The audited report and the balancesheet for the year under review disclosed that the net premium income of CIL increased by 4.55 per cent. During the year, the company settled gross claim of Tk 47.638 million (476.38 lac).
The CIL chairman formally informed the meeting that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had permitted the company to float shares of Tk 90.0 million to the public.
