Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting chairman Tarique Rahman said on Thursday that the aim of their present struggle is to defend the country's independence and sovereignty.
To win that struggle, all have to put effort continuously, he said.
He made the comments at a virtual training session organised by BNP's training affairs committee.
The event held in London aimed to train leaders and activists on BNP's 31- point for state reforms. Party leaders of Manikganj, Narsingdi and Mynshiganj districts participated in the session.
Warning party members about possible conspiracies, Tarique Rahman said, "You have fought for democracy. Many of you have been tortured and many had sacrificed their lives. Still, you have many challenges to face as your struggle is yet from over."
"This struggle or war is for the people and for defending the country's independence and sovereignty," he said adding that the BNP needs to continue its struggle.
He also said that BNP has to stand by the people to secure victory in the upcoming election.
He warned BNP of people with negative intentions at home and abroad, who have been moved to cause harm to the country.
"If those who speak and think about the welfare of the government are voted to power, the interests of the people and the country will be protected," he maintained.
