Contraband goods worth Tk 20.5m seized from KDS Logistics

CHITTAGONG, Nov 05: Chittagong Customs has seized two containers of contraband items including electronic goods, old photocopiers and 'kalojira rice' worth Tk. 20.5 million from the private ICD of KDS Logistics at Kumira area under Sitakunda Wednesday.
Acting on a tip off the customs intelligence officials seized the goods while exporting the goods imported under false declaration.
Sources said that M/s Midory Corporation of Ibrahimpur, Dhaka had imported 153 old photocopier machines, 8 LCD televisions, 35 laser printers, computer parts, 92 pieces of cordless phones and other machineries in a 40 feet container under false declaration of used papers.
Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Customs Shamsul Islam said, the seized goods are contraband items and are worth about Tk 20 million.
The customs officials have seized kalojira rice and other dry foods, also imported under false declaration from the same ICD worth about Tk 0.5 million.
