Contraband items worth Tk 20.38m seized

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in separate drives seized a large quantity of smuggled Indian goods along with arms worth about Tk 20.38 million from different areas of Joypurhat district in on Sunday and Monday. A big consignment of Indian imitation ornaments, 65 packets baby food, 26 kgs steel goods, one pistol with a bullet, 2,750 pieces of mobile chargers, 2,393 pieces of saris, 1,014 pieces of 3-piece, 612 kg cumin seeds, 524 bottles of Phensidyl, 10,140 pieces of sex stimulating tablets, medicine, beer and at 35 other contraband items were seized in an abandoned condition during the drives, the BGB sources said. Lt Col Abdur Razzak Tarafder, Commanding officer of Joypurhat Battalion-3 of BGB, said separate BGB teams conducted the drives in the 72 kilometers long border areas and recovered the goods which were handed over to Hili Customs Office,’ he said. None was arrested in this connection, according to UNB.
