Contrabands worth Tk 30m seized

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in a drive seized Indian contraband items worth about Tk 30 million from Putkhali and Baro Achra borders at Benapole in Sharsha upazila of Jessore on Friday. The seized goods include 160 pieces of costly sarees, two motorcycles, five sacks of jewelry (imitation) and various types of fruits and food items. BGB Putkhali camp commander Subedar Shafiuddin Hawlader said BGB a team, on a tip-off, conducted a drive in the frontier area in the afternoon and recovered the smuggled goods. The market value of the seized items would be around Tk 30m, the commander added.
