Contributions of Samad Azad recalled

Awami League Ad-visory Council Member Suranjit Sengupta Satur-day said that the constitution of 1972 has been restored in the country after 40 years through the court verdict, reports BSS.
He was speaking at a commemorative meeting on Abdus Samad Azad at Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium in the city.
Abdus Samad Azad Foundation organised the discussion marking the death anniversary of the veteran Awami League leader and former foreign minister.
Suranjit Sengupta said the nation would always recognize the contribution of Abdus Samad Azad.
Presided over by Dha-ka University Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, the meeting was also addressed by former state minister for foreign affairs Abdul Hassan Chowdhury, former BSS chief editor Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, Azizus Samad Azad and Taufiq Samad Azad.
Suranjit Sengupta said Abdus Samad Azad and others who worked for establishing non-communal spirit in the country should be brought in the evaluation of history.
Arefin Siddique called upon the pro-liberation forces to work together to build a non-communal, developed, progressive and democratic country.
Abul Hassan Chow-dhury said Abdus Samad Azad was a pious man, but he believed in non-communal spirit.
Samad Azad must be recognised for his contributions to the diplomatic field and other areas, he added.
