'Cooperate with women entrepreneurs to boost country's economy'

CHITTAGONG, Nov 3: President of Bangladesh Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Rokeya Afzal Rahman has called for extending cooperation to the women entrepreneurs for achieving economic prosperity of the country.
She was speaking as the chief guest at a day-long seminar titled 'Pathfinder 2007, Women SMEs' at Hotel Agrabad in the port city recently.
Rokeya Afzal Rahman, who is also a former adviser to the caretaker government, said the members of the women community have now become more interested to get themselves involved in trade and commerce.
"In the situation, we can cooperate with them through imparting training to make them more dynamic," she added.
As the members of the women community constitute half of the total population, she stressed the need for involving them in trade and commerce in an enhanced manner for boosting the country's economy.
The seminar was jointly organised by Bangladesh Federation of Women Entrepreneurs (BFWE), Chittagong Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CWCCI) and South Asia Enterprise Development Forum (SEDF).
