Cooperative societies playing vital role to alleviate poverty

Country's cooperative societies are playing a vital role in poverty alleviation and reduction of unemployment problem.
Dhaka District Cooperative Officer Nabirul Islam made the observation while speaking as the chief guest at the Performance Awarding ceremony organised by the Kapotakkha Cooperative Society Limited (KCSL) for its employees at a city restaurant Saturday.
Chaired by KCSL Chairman Asaduzzaman, the function was attended, among others, by Metropolitan Thana Cooperative Officer Tajul Islam as the special guest, KCSL Vice-chairman Sushanto Kumar Bhoumic, Kapotakkha Properties and Builders Limited Vice-chairman Prabir Kumar Bhoumic, Panjeri Hospital Limited Managing Director Md Anwar Hossain and KCSL Senior Principal Officer Md Selim Reza.
KCSL founder and Managing Director Md Younus Ali spoke as chief discussant on the occasion.
The contribution of cooperatives is undeniable in the socio-economic development of the country, Nabirul Islam said.
Cooperatives can create job opportunities for unemployed youths of the country, he said.
Four got Chairman Trophy and ten received performance awards as recognition of their annual reports.
Later, the chief guest distributed awards among the winners.
