Cop sent to jail in Rangpur

A court in Rangpur on Wednesday sent an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police to jail in a case filed against him by his wife. The judge of Pirgachha cognisance court rejected the bail prayer of ASI Mostafa Kamal, stationed in Dhaka, and sent him to jail, said his lawyer Advocate Zahidur Rahman. Mostafa Kamal, son of Nurul Islam of Deuti village in Pirgachha upazila, got married to Dilruba Ferdousi Putul, daughter of Delwar Hossain of the same village, on March 1, 2014. However, their marriage was not a happy one as Kamal and his family members used to torture Putul, an assistant teacher of Deuti Mekura Madrasah, for bringing dowry from her parents. Later, she filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act against her husband and mother-in-law Kohinur Begum, according to UNB.
