Cop-terrorist gunfight injures 6 in Cox’s Bazar

At least six people, including four policemen, were injured in a gunfight with police and a gang of terrorists at Chaillatali in Maheshkhali upazila in Cox’s Bazar early Friday. Officer-in-charge of Maheshkhali Police Station Alamgir Hossain said police in a drive arrested top terrors Helal, 32, and Sanaullah, 30, from Maheskhali Island around 12:15 am on Friday. Later, police taking Helal and Sanaullah along launched another drive in the area at about 2 am to recover firearms. Sensing the presence of police, cohorts of Helal and Sanaullah fired gunshots at the law enforcers, triggering a gunfight that left four policemen including SI Abul Kalam of Maheshkhali Police Station, and the two alleged criminals, Helal and Sanaullah, injured with bullets. Police recovered two guns and six rounds of bullet from the spot. Arrested Helal is an accused in 10 cases while Sanaullah in five cases, including killing, according to UNB.
