Cops arrest JMB's southern region chief from Bogra

BOGRA, Dec 30 (Agencies): Police in Bogra have arrested a leader of the Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), who they claim heads the militant outfit's southern region chapter.
The detainee was identified as Abu Sayed alias Karim alias Talha alias Shyamol, Majlish-e-Sura member of the JMB and also the chief of JMB southern region, said Sanatan Chakrawarty, additional superintendent of Bogra Police.
Acting on information, a joint team of Detective Branch of Police of the district and the headquarters conducted the drive on Saturday and arrested him from Omarpur under Nandigram Upazila.
The team also recovered a pistol, one magazine, nine rounds of bullet, a machete and a motorcycle.
Abu Sayeed was a suspect in the 2014 blast at a JMB hideout in India's West Bengal.
