FE REPORT | Wednesday, 13 September 2023
At least 25 pro-BNP lawyers were seriously injured as police charged baton on them on the Dhaka Bar Association premises, while they brought out a procession under the banner of the United Lawyers Front, a platform of the anti-government lawyers.
The incident took place around 12:30 pm on Tuesday. The injured lawyers received first aid at the Dhaka Bar Association office. At least 13 lawyers were sent to Islami Bank Central Hospital and National Medical College Hospital for better treatment, said Barrister Kayser Kamal, Chief Co-ordinator of the United Lawyers Front.
The United Lawyers' Front organized a 'foot-march' programme to demand the resignation of the government including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the resignation of the judges who proclaimed themselves as "oath-bound politicians" and the unconditional release of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
The 'foot-march' started in front of the Dhaka Bar Association around 12.30pm. The procession was stopped by the police when it approached the main road in front of the court.
