Cops foil dental students’ bid to besiege Health Ministry
Wednesday, 17 December 2014
Police on Wednesday thwarted an attempt of dental technology students to lay a siege to the Health Ministry to press home their several demands, including registration from the Dental Council. Assistant commissioner (Ramna Zone) Shiblee Noman said several hundred students of the Institute of Health Technology (dental) under the banner of BSC Dental Students Association staged a sit-in in front of the National Press Club as part of their scheduled programme to besiege the Health Ministry and submit a memorandum to the ministry in the morning. As they tried to march towards the Health Ministry around 11:30am, police obstructed them. Having failed to besiege the ministry, they vandalised some vehicles and hurled brickbats at BMA Bhaban in the area. Police arrested 15 students from the spot and used water cannons to disperse them, according to UNB.
