Cops nab seven stalwarts of AL, its affiliates

Police have arrested seven stalwarts of Awami League and its associate bodies during separate raids in the capital.
A police team from the Khilgaon Police Station during a drive on Saturday night (10:00 on) arrested six leaders of Awami League and its associate bodies from Bottola and South Banasri areas in Khilgaon of the city.
The arrestees were identified as Shakil Ahmed (29), president of banned Chhatra League's Dohar upazila unit; Jashim Khan (30), publicity secretary of the Khilgaon ward no. 74 unit of banned Jubo League; Samiul Islam Hridoy (30), member secretary of the north Nandipara Rasulbagh unit under ward no. 74 of Khilgaon of banned Jubo League, Ahsan Habib (42) and Aminul Islam Liton (47) members of ward no. two under Khilgaon area, and Md Aminul Islam Rifat (28), member of Dhaka city south unit of banned Chhatra League.
In another drive, members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) of the DMP during a raid on Saturday detained Shafiqur Rahman (61), vice-president of the ward no. 31 unit of Dhaka North Awami League.
In an another drive, the Detective Branch ( BB) police also arrested Amir Hamja, general secretary of Chhatra League Gopalganj district unit, and Md Bayezid who rented KB Convention Hall.
Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that several cases were pending against the arrestees.
