Tongi Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) has reportedly blamed his colleagues of pocketing a part of seized Yaba tablets. According to Tongi police’s sub-inspector (SI) Aminur Rahman, being tipped off a raid was conducted at a slum in Natun Bazar area in Tongi of Gazipur district around 7:30pm on Tuesday when two ‘Yaba-peddlers’ were arrested. The police station’s 2nd officer SI Hasan-uz-Zaman and SI Achintya Kumar Deb were in the raid. The case filed over the seizures by SI Deb stated that 1,000 Yaba tablets were recovered in the raid. OC Kazi Ismail Hossain alleges the seizure report plays down the amount of Yaba tablets recovered in the raid. ‘Seems those who recovered it, made off with a portion of seized material, I think they have removed 100 Yaba tablets because I know that 1,100 Yaba tablets were recovered,’ OC Hossain, said adding that the issue would be investigated, according to bdnews24.com.
