Cops raid Nur’s truck stand, recover huge weapons

Police recovered huge weapons and drugs during a raid on a truck stand controlled by Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the seven-murder case, at Shimrail in Siddhirganj in Narayanganj district on Friday afternoon. A team of district police conducted the raid at the truck stand around 4:15pm, said police. During the drive, the law enforcers recovered over 50 locally made weapons, 19 sacks of Phensidyl syrup, huge Yaba tablets and several bottles of foreign liquor. The drive was continuing till filing of this report around 5:30pm. Narayanganj City Corporation councillor, Nur Hossain is also the vice-president of Siddhirganj thana unit of Awami League and president of thana chapter of inter-district truck drivers union, said locals. He used to control the drug trading in the area from the truck stand. Nur Hossain is the prime accused of killing seven people, including NCC panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker, according to UNB.
