Coronary angiogram service introduced at RMCH

RANGPUR, Oct 26 (BSS): As per commitment of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government launched coronary angiogram at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) yesterday to provide modern treatment easily to heart patients of the region. After launching angiogram machine at the Department of Cardiology, Director of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICD) Prof Abdullah Al Shafi Majumder said the people will now get world class heart treatments quickly at lower cost at RMCH. "People of Rangpur region will not need to go to Dhaka or abroad for angiogram, setting rings or pace makers as all these facilities are now available at the RMCH," internationally reputed cardiologist Prof Shafi said. Assistant Prof of NICD Dr Mohammad Ullah, Medical Technologist Tarikul Islam, Khandker Mostaf Ahmed, RMCH Director Dr Taufiqul Islam, Head of the Department of Cardiology Associate Prof Dr Mirja Nazrul Islam were present on the occasion. Talking to BSS on the epoch-making occasion, Director Dr Taufiqul Islam said the process of launching ICU in full fledged, open heart and cardiac surgery, burn unit has been progressing fast at the RMCH as per commitment of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. "Construction works of most of the necessary buildings have already been completed and all these units including open heart surgery, burn and ICU will start functioning fully after getting required manpower and more financial supports," he hoped. Prof Shafi Majumder said the people have full faith in our cardiologists, surgeons and specialists and they are now getting the world class and most modernized treatments for cardiovascular diseases in the country instead of going to Singapore, Kolkata or the USA. "The people of northern region will start getting all these world class treatments for cardiovascular diseases at RMCH as the present government is sincerely committed to start these services in full fledged very soon here," he said. Ansar-VDP men asked to conduct duties with sincerity Another message adds: Director General of Ansar and VDP Major General Zahidur Rahman, ndu, afwc, psc, has directed the concerned officials for conducting their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication at the grassroots. He put special emphasis on strengthening organisational activities and developing skills of every Ansar-VDP members through necessary training to serve the nation in ensuring peaceful law and order and poverty alleviation through rural developments. He was addressing the Rangpur regional views-exchange meeting with the officials of Ansar and Village Defense Police (VDP) of all eight districts under Rangpur division at Rangpur district Ansar and VDP office here on Tuesday as the chief guest.
