'Corporate governance to help establish transparency, accountability'

Commerce Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan, MP has underscored the need for creating awareness on corporate governance among the corporate entities of the country.
The minister was addressing a seminar on corporate governance arranged by the Institute of Internal Auditors of Bangladesh (IIAB) in the city Saturday.
Speakers said that corporate governance will help establishing transparency and accountability in the private and public sector of Bangladesh.
Website of the IIA Bangladesh (www.iiabd.org) was also launched at the end of the seminar.
Mr. Ahmed Ataul Hakeem, Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh and Mr. Feroz Ahmed, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce were present as the Special Guests.
Corporate dignitaries, representatives of the business community and government officials also attended.
The President of IIAB, Mr. Raihan Shamsi, opened the session while Mr. Akhter Matin Chaudhury made the keynote presentation on corporate governance.
The IIAB is an affiliate of the US-based IIA Inc, a global body having more than 160,000 professional members in 165 countries around the world.
