Corrupt so far offer to pay about Tk 200m for clemency

The corrupt individuals, heard so far by the Truth and Accountability Commission (TAC), have offered to pay a total of about Tk 200 million (20 crore) to the national exchequer in exchange for clemency. According to TAC sources, as of Tuesday the three-member Commission headed by Justice Habibur Rahman Khan has heard clemency pleas of some 146 corrupt individuals since September 1. And these corrupt individuals, mostly government employees, have promised to pay the amount to the government treasury.
