Corruption at Rajabari DCDF found true

Allegations of corruption and irregularities at Rajabari Dairy and Cattle Development Farm (DCDF) in Godagari under Rajshahi were found true in a civil audit, reports UNB.
Widespread anomalies of the DCDF officials and employees were proved in the audit, said Audit Officer Anwar Hossain. He said the audit report would be sent to the DG Office with a recommendation for taking divisional actions against those involved in the corruption.
The Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General in Dhaka started a civil audit in the farm on March 29 to examine the irregularities. The audit ended on April 6.
According to a source, the cattle development farm could not achieve success in last two decades due to irregularities and corruption of the officials and employees concerned.
It incurred loss of over Tk 70 million during the period of 2001-2007. The source also said the state-owned farm incurred a loss of Tk 7.8 million in fiscal 2001-02, Tk 13.9 million in 2002-03, over Tk 10.6 million in 2003-04, Tk 15.5 million in 2004-05, Tk 14.5 million in 2005-06 and Tk 8.0 million in 2006-07.
Tigers maul 12 in 3 months in Sundarbans
Twelve people were killed and one was injured in tiger attacks in Satkhira range of the Sundarbans during last three-and-a-half months, reports UNB.
The people, identified as fisherman, leaves collector (bawali) and honey collector (mouwali), were killed during January 1-April 20 period, according to the Forest Department sources.
The deceased were identified as Sunnat Sheikh, 50, Moqbul Sheikh, 50, Rashid Gazi, 50, Yunus Ali, 27, Ishak Ali, 50, Moksed Sheikh, 50, Ashraf Gazi, 42, Rezaul Gazi, 25, Khokon Sana, 50, Tapan Mondon, 28, Abdur Rouf, 35, and Khokon Sheikh, 35.
Leaves collector Abul Bashar, 40, was also injured critically in the attack by a man-eater during the period.
