Cost of remittances lowest in BD, says BB Governor

The cost of remittances in Bangladesh is one of the lowest in the world mainly because of mobile financial services (MFS) and strategic partnership developed among banks, telephone companies and Micro- Finance institutions (MFIs), said Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman. The governor made this comment while participating in a discussion on migration and remittance at the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC. Dilip Ratha of the World Bank presented the keynote paper on the issue at the discussion, held over the weekend on the sideline of the World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings 2014.— BSS
