IT is very common to see that students keep their study works pending day after day, week after week, sometimes month after month. They think that when the submission time for the assignment or exam will come, they will be serious and complete their works. Such a tendency of keeping things pending might be very harmful for them.
One of the main reasons why students keep lessons pending is the fear of subject. Nothing can be harmful than being afraid of any subject and not spending time for the same day after day, week after week.
The root of this fear about any subject, if we analyse, is very simple. For example, a student of class six might have missed the first class of Geometry due to illness or for any other personal problem. If he or she does not become aware of and prepare lessons for the 'missed' class, he or she will face difficulty in understanding the second class, let alone the following classes. The student grows a dislike and fear about the subject. He or she might carry this fear about Geometry for months, even for years.
It is a very human tendency not to do the work which originates fear. Thus, students do not want to read Geometry and that keeps him or her weak in this very important subject. The student later grows habit of procrastination. Procrastination makes him or her worried and this worry makes him or her less confident. The student becomes lazy at one point. Such a habit also keeps them out of the track of studies.
The following tips might be helpful for those who want to avoid fear about any subject and habit of procrastination:
First, you should spend much of your time for the subject you are studying. Remember, no subject is really difficult if you can study properly. One day the most difficult subject might turn out to be most interesting for you.
Second, discuss with your friends on difficult issues from the 'difficult' subject. Discussions will be very helpful for your understanding of the subject.
Third, talk to your friends and meet the teacher to understand any class you have missed. Taking such measures will keep you on the track.
Fourth, always study in advance the subject you are most afraid of. Try to guess or try to learn what the teacher is going to discuss in the next class. Study those issues. This will make you attracted to the subject and one day you will be one of the best 'performers' in the class for that particular subject.
Fifth, read the chapters again and again. This will give you mastery over the subject and succeed in exams.
When you can win over your fear and procrastination, you will start enjoying studies immensely. You will surely succeed in grasping difficult issues of any difficult subject.
