Cotton mill in Gazipur catches fire

GAZIPUR, Jan 26: A fire broke out in a cotton mill at Bagherbazar Baniarchala in sadar upazila on Monday noon. Fire Service sources said the fire broke out in a warehouse of yarn located on the ground floor of the two-storey building of Fermosa Poly Cotton BD Limited around 1pm and soon engulfed the entire factory, burning down yarn, machinery and other valuables. Five fire-fighting units from Joydevpur, Bhaluka and Sreepur rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control with the help of local people after two hours of frantic efforts. — UNB
