Country in era of cent per cent power !
Thursday, 24 March 2022
Bangladesh has entered the age of 100 per cent electricity. At the same time, it has become the 13th country in the world to use ultra-supercritical technology. In this connection, we should congratulate the government for implementing the promise given on the MujibBarsha. This milestone is undoubtedly a great achievement for the country and the nation. According to the World Bank data, the achievement will put Bangladesh ahead of India and Pakistan, the South Asian countries that have brought 98 per cent and 74 per cent of their populations under electricity network.
In addition to continuing this trend of success, attention needs to be paid to expanding green forestation programmes as soon as possible to maintain the balance of the environment. Proper assistance to the victims in the project area and rehabilitation should also be considered prudently. To give this achievement sustainability, appropriate action must be taken to combat the existing corruption and irregularities in the power sector. It is hoped that the promise given on MujibBarsha will be kept by taking landmark steps towards solving the problem of load shedding.
