Baatighar, a Chittagong-based company is going to open the country's largest super store of books in Dhaka December 29.
"The store occupying 5,000 square feet space is located at the eighth floor of Biswa Shahitya Kendro at city's Bangla Motor area and we are ready to open the store on December 29, where bibliophiles will be able to buy books from a huge collection of more than 0.1 million copies," Dipankar Das, the chief executive of the company told The FE Monday.
He said it will be the country's most sophisticated centre to offer knowledge-based logistic services to the learners.
Readers will get books covering all segments of education and knowledge from the super store.
"Definitely, our latest venture will be a milestone to establish a knowledge-based society and thus we also like to contribute to our growing economy," Mr Dipankar said.
Silhouetted against the interior decoration framed in line with Lalbagh Kella, an epic architectural epitome of 17th century Moghul era, the Dhaka Baatighar will sell quality books authored by more than 10,000 writers from home and abroad.
"We will offer quality books, published from 1000 reputed publishers of both home and abroad," Dipankar Das disclosed.
Mr Dipankar said readers will also get quality journals, little magazines and periodicals from the super store.
With a small space of 100 square feet, Baatighar made its debut in Chittagong in 2005 and later snared a big portion of the port city's knowledge industry market.
It won the best award in the category of 'aesthetic decoration' in Bangla Academy Book Fair in 2017.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Nur, MP, will formally open Dhaka Baatighar at 11.00 am on Friday next.
