Couple commits suicide in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, June 11(UNB): A young couple here allegedly committed suicide by taking poison at Hatibandha village in Sadar Upazila Monday night.
The deceased are Shahid (25), son of Amjad of Mymensingh district and his wife Poppy (22), daughter of Saudi expatriate Abdur Razzak.
Police quoting victims' family sources said Shahid, became annoyed with his father-in-law as he did not take him abroad as per his promise and took poison at dead of night at his father-in-law's house. He died on way to Sadar hospital.
Seeing the body of Shahid when it was taken to his father-in-law's house his wife Poppy also took poison and died instantly.
The couple left behind a two-year-old son.
Police recovered both the bodies and sent those to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
Another report from Sylhet adds: A student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in city's Tilagarh area Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Ranesh Debnath, son of Bijoy Krishna Debnath, a third year student of Government MC College. He hailed from Debidwar Upazila of Comilla.
Police said Ranesh took his life hanging himself from the ceiling of a room at night when his fellow mess members were asleep.
Seeing the hanging body of Ranesh his friends informed local police in the morning who later recovered the body at noon.
The reason behind the suicide could not be known immediately.
A case was filed.
