Robbers looted valuables after stabbing a couple at a house under Shyampur Police Station in the city early Thursday. The injured couple were identified as Harun-ur-Rashed, 38, an executive of a still mill, and his wife Selina Akhtar Doly, 30. Police, quoting inmates of the house, said a gang of robbers entered the one-storey building of Harun at 36/1 Haricharan Road in Faridabad area in Shyampur at about 3:30am. One of the hoodlums got into the bedroom of Harun cutting window grill while others entered through the main door. As Doly woke up sensing the presence of the gangsters and screamed, the robbers stabbed her on impact. As her husband approached to resist, the attackers stabbed him too, said Sub Inspector Sumon. He said the miscreants fled the scene taking away some valuables, including two mobile phone sets. Replying to a question, SI Sumon said they were not sure yet whether it was an incident of robbery or anything resulting from previous enmity. Both the husband and wife were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, according to UNB.
