Court accepts charges against MP\\\'s son Rony

A Dhaka court took on Thursday cognizance of charge against Bakhtiar Alam Rony, son of Awami League MP Pinu Khan, in a case filed for shooting two people to death with his firearm in the city's New Eskaton area, reports UNB.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Aminul Haque accepted the charges and sent the relevant papers and documents to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sheikh Hafizur Rahman for next course of action.
Earlier on July 21, Detective Branch (DB) of police pressed charges against Rony for the double murder.
On April 13, Rony, said to be a drug addict, allegedly opened fire on people indiscriminately near Janakantha Bhaban in New Eskaton area from his car, leaving two people -- rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim and Janakantha's auto-rickshaw driver Yakub --injured with bullets.
Hakim succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on April 15 while Yeakub died at the hospital on April 23.
