Court allows ACC to grill ex-BFIU chief at jail gate

A Dhaka Court on Sunday allowed the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to interrogate Masud Biswas, the former head of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), at the jail gate in a graft case.
Judge of the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court in Dhaka, Md Zakir Hossain, passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the ACC seeking Masud on seven-day remand.
The court at the same time sent Masud Biswas to jail after rejecting his bail prayer in the case.
Anti-Corruption Commission Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir who appeared in the court hearing in the case confirmed the court order to the FE.
Earlier on the day, ACC Assistant Director Shazzad Hussain, also the investigation officer (IO) in the case, produced Mr Masud before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
In the remand prayer, the IO said that Masud was involved in suspicious transactions and needed to be remanded to uncover more details regarding the allegations.
