Wednesday, 27 June 2007

COMILLA, June 26 (UNB): Former health and Family welfare minister and BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain was again allowed two-day police remand here Tuesday.
Court sources said Judge M Ataul Gani of the Cognisance Court-2 granted the two-day remand as the police sought a 10-day remand in a case of extortion, damage and looting.
A local businessman, Abdus Sattar of Daudkandi Goalmari Bazar filed the case against Mosharraf and some others with Daudkandi police station on March 12, 2007.
According to the allegations made in the case, the accused at the behest of Mosharraf demanded Tk 2.0 million from him on April 7, 2001.
Two days later, Sattar said, some of the accused ransacked his business establishments, as he could not give them the demanded money.
