The hearing of the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been deferred. The court of Dhaka’s Third Special Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar set January 7 for the next hearing in the case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission after accepting a plea by the defence for more time on Wednesday. Amid a clash between BNP supporters and the ruling party activists outside the court, set up in Alia Madrasa premises in Old Dhaka’s Bakshibazar area, Khaleda’s motorcade arrived in the court premises around 12:20pm. The proceeding started in the court at 11:30am. Khaleda, also the former Prime Minister, left her Gulshan residence for the court around 11:20am and she left the court around 1:10pm, according to a news agency.
